Grants Pass Based Colvin Oil Launches 2015 Fuel Your School Program with up to $75,000 Available for Education Projects in Jackson and Josephine Counties

September 1, 2015 by Andretti Group

Colvin Oil makes it easy to help generate funds for local teachers and students in collaboration with DonorsChoose.org

GRANTS PASS, OREGON, Sept. 1, 2015 – Colvin Oil and Chevron U.S.A. Inc. (NYSE: CVX) today announced the launch of the 2015 Fuel Your School program, an innovative collaboration with DonorsChoose.org, an online organization that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need, in Jackson and Josephine counties. Building on the 8,316 local students who benefitted last year, Fuel Your School is now in second year in Jackson and Josephine counties and will generate up to $75,000 this fall, which will help fund classroom supplies and materials, including those focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and hands-on activities to help connect real world experiences to classroom learning.

“We are very excited to be participating in the Fuel Your School program again, after a very successful program last year,” said Lane Colvin, president of Colvin Oil. “This is a great opportunity for our local schools.”

Beginning Sept. 1, 2015, public school teachers from Jackson and Josephine counties are invited to post eligible classroom projects at www.DonorsChoose.org. Then, from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, 2015, the Fuel Your School program will donate $1, up to a total of $75,000, to help fund eligible classroom projects when consumers purchase eight or more gallons of fuel at participating Chevron and Texaco stations.

“Fuel Your School helps provide students with the resources needed to help prepare them for success in the modern economy,” said Brent Tippen, public and government affairs advisor at Chevron Corporation. “At Chevron, we know that an educated and skilled workforce helps lead to economic growth – for our business and the communities where we operate.”

Last year, Chevron’s Fuel Your School program through Colvin Oil helped fund 69 eligible classroom projects for public schools in Jackson and Josephine counties, including Kathleen Thomas’s classroom at North Medford High School. Kathleen received balances, thermometers, graduated cylinders and multimeters to help students conduct advanced investigations and prepare for success as they go on to college.

“My students will be able to conduct quantitative labs in their own homes, and hopefully inspire their family members and siblings to get involved in their learning,” said Thomas. “Sometimes it is difficult for students to connect the lab activities that take place in the classroom to the real world. By conducting lab investigations at home using safe and accessible materials, they will better be able to see the connection between skills learned in the classroom and the real world.”

For a full list of participating communities in the 2015 Fuel Your School program and to track local projects in need of funding, please visit www.FuelYourSchool.com. In addition to funds generated through the Fuel Your School program, anyone, including consumers and Chevron employees, may also independently browse and fund inspiring classroom projects on DonorsChoose.org by making separate, individual donations.
