Mitchell sacks consecutive 4th Place trophies while Moorehad adds a 3rd Place check to his portfolio. Hoopa’s #B200 Roger Sanderson & #50 Jude Hostler finish First and Second in the ‘Hoopa Hydro Heritage’ 2018 Fathers Day race in Hoopa, California. Sanderson nearly lost his win when he hit his propellor on the 5th of 6-legs and finished 11th after winning the first 4 segments, and the final dash to the checkered flag.
It’s Sanderson’s 3rd win of the ‘Cal-Ore River Racers-My Circle-K/GP Energy Hydroplane series in 2018. He captures his 51st win of his career while extending his lead atop the ‘High-Point’ US Championship points standings. Grants Pass top racer, #17, Jesse Reinhart, last week’s winner, did not finish after hitting his lower unit while running up front with Sanderson. Other casualties to mechanical issues were Michael Dickson, Karl Norton, Robert Buckman, Buck McCovey, Chris Heath, and Ulysses McLaughlin.
Next stop in the series is Sun. July 8th in Gold Beach, Oregon for the ‘Lower Rogue Challenge’ with defending race winner #68 Cameron Kirkland expected back on the water after suffering major hull damage flipping at Boatnik.
